Pure bees wax – Our new locally sourced bees wax pods are available in 250g pre moulded form. We receive the purest raw beeswax from our local beekeepers, then render and clean it in house. Our products may at times contain tiny black particles that is a natural product of the wax, this will not influence your finished product in any way. This bees wax delivers a smooth finish with a natural mild honey fragrance. Suitable for container and mould candles. Pure bees wax is used by premium candle makers globally and is the only natural wax used in its native form. This wax ensures a reliable and smooth result, with almost no container shrinkage and a natural mild honey fragrance.
A 100% bees wax candle will be very hard in consistency, and we recommend blending it with soy / coconut / shea butter to soften the emulsion if so desired. Bees wax is also used in cosmetic products.
Either use the entire pod for candle making, or shave off smaller bits if the bees wax is used as an additional wax in your candle blending.

Note that the instructions are based on our in-house testing, and you should also explore the handling sheet to conduct your own testing. Pure bees wax is naturally yellow in colour and has a natural mild, honey fragrance, so we do not advise adding fragrance or dye. Use a digital thermometer to measure the correct temperatures of the wax.
Lay down a few newspapers because pouring candles can be messy. Ensure that you work on a sturdy surface and your candle wicks are firmly in place. Mark the maximum fill line with a non-permanent marker to ensure that the jars are not over-filled.
Step 1 – Melting
Wax should be melted in a bain-marie and should not be exposed to direct heat.
Melt your wax slowly over a low heat to reach between 70℃ and 72℃. The wax should appear dark-golden in colour. Take care not to heat the wax over 85℃ because this can influence the setting and performance of the wax. Overheated wax will start smoking and can result in injury. It can also cause discolouration in the final product.
Step 2 – Adding Colour and Fragrance
Bees wax has a naturally occurring mild honey smell and is gold in colour. It is not advised to add fragrance or dye to this product.
Step 3 – Pouring
Once your wax is melted to between 70℃ and 72℃ it is ready to be poured. The wax will have a rich golden translucent appearance. This will ensure a creamy, smooth finish. It is important to have the containers at the same temperature as the ambient room temperature when pouring. Bees wax is a one-pour wax so fill the container to the desired height in one pour. Place the candles in a warm area to harden because cooling too quickly can cause the finished product to crack.
Step 4 – Curing and Topping-Up
Allow wax to cure for 48 hours.
