Description

Product Information:

Isopropyl alcohol (IPA) is a colourlessflammable chemical compound (chemical formula CH3CHOHCH3) with a strong odour. As an isopropyl group linked to a hydroxyl group, it is the simplest example of a secondary alcohol, where the alcohol carbon atom is attached to two other carbon atoms. It is a structural isomer of 1-propanol and ethyl methyl ether.

It is used in the manufacture of a wide variety of industrial and household chemicals and is a common ingredient in chemicals such as antisepticsdisinfectants, and detergents.

Function in Melt and Pour Soap:

It is used as a solvent in certain melt and pour soap recipes (when you make melt and pour from scratch), but in this case we use it to pop the air bubbles once we have poured our melted soap into our moulds.  The IPA breaks the surface tension if the soap which causes the bubbles to pop.  It also assist with ensuring that that different layers of melt and pour soap adhere.

Usage Instructions.

  1. Spray on our soap once moulded to pop any air bubbles.
  2. When making a layered melt and pour soap, spray liberally between each layer as it helps the layers adhere to one another.
  3. Use a little bit of IPA to disperse mica colourants before adding to soap.  This will eliminate the possibility of the mica clumping giving you an uneven colour result.
