Soy Container Candle Recipe – Using the Ready to Go Soy wax candle container Kit

Your Kit Includes:

  • Soy wax SB48 – 1kg
  • Selected Fragrance oil – 100ml
  • STB8 wicks x 1 packet of 25 wicks
  • Glue dots x 1 packet
  • Wick placeholders (centring tools) x 3
  • Max, Mid, and Mini Ocher glass jars with white twist on lids.
  • Pouring Jug x 1L

Additional Equipment & Supplies ( not included):

  • Double boiler (Bain Marie style)
  • Thermometer (optional but recommended, and can be purchased separately)
  • Stirring sticks
  • Paper towels
  • Clean cloth or old dish towel
  • Scissors
  • Heat gun or hairdryer (optional, for smoothing tops)
  • Protective sheet or newspaper for workspace

Candle-Making Steps

Prepare Your Workspace:  Work on a clean, flat, and stable surface.  Lay down newspaper or a protective sheet.  Have paper towels and a cloth handy for any spills.

Clean the Jars:  Wipe out each jar with a paper towel to remove any dust or particles.

Wick Setup for specific Jar Size, this step is very important.

  • Max Ocher Jar – Use 3 x STB8 wicks
  • Mid Ocher Jar – Use 2 x STB8 wicks
  • Mini Ocher Jar – Use 1 x STB8 wick

Secure the Wicks:  Use the glue dots to stick the wicks firmly to the center base of each jar.  Press down to ensure a solid hold.

Center the Wicks:  Attach the wick placeholders (or centering tools) on top of each jar to keep wicks straight and centered.

Melt the Wax:  Use the double boiler method (Bain Marie) to gently melt the soy wax.  Optional: Use a thermometer to monitor the temperature — you’ll need to reach 70°C.

Transfer to Pouring Jug:  Once melted, carefully pour the wax into your pouring jug.

Add Fragrance Oil:  Allow the wax cool slightly to 68°C before adding fragrance.  Use an 8% fragrance load — 80ml fragrance per 1L melted wax.  Stir gently but thoroughly for 2 minutes.

Cool Wax Further:  Allow wax to cool to around 55–60°C before pouring into your jars.

Pour the Wax:  Carefully fill each jar to the top.  Gently tap the sides to release any air bubbles.

Set & Smooth:  Let candles cool and set completely at room temperature.  If tops are uneven, smooth them using a heat gun or hairdryer. This can happen with natural waxes.

Trim the Wicks:  Once fully set, trim wicks to 0.5 cm. A short wick gives a better, safer burn.

Cure the Candles:  Allow the candles to cure for at least 5 days before burning. This helps improve scent throw and burn quality.

Burning Guidelines (First Burn). To ensure a full melt pool and avoid tunnelling:

  • Mini Ocher: Burn for 1–2 hours
  • Mid Ocher: Burn for 2–4 hours
  • Max Ocher: Burn for 3–4 hours
