Candle-Making Steps
Prepare Your Workspace: Work on a clean, flat, and stable surface. Lay down newspaper or a protective sheet. Have paper towels and a cloth handy for any spills.
Clean the Jars: Wipe out each jar with a paper towel to remove any dust or particles.
Wick Setup for specific Jar Size, this step is very important.
Secure the Wicks: Use the glue dots to stick the wicks firmly to the center base of each jar. Press down to ensure a solid hold.
Center the Wicks: Attach the wick placeholders (or centering tools) on top of each jar to keep wicks straight and centered.
Melt the Wax: Use the double boiler method (Bain Marie) to gently melt the soy wax. Optional: Use a thermometer to monitor the temperature — you’ll need to reach 70°C.
Transfer to Pouring Jug: Once melted, carefully pour the wax into your pouring jug.
Add Fragrance Oil: Allow the wax cool slightly to 68°C before adding fragrance. Use an 8% fragrance load — 80ml fragrance per 1L melted wax. Stir gently but thoroughly for 2 minutes.
Cool Wax Further: Allow wax to cool to around 55–60°C before pouring into your jars.
Pour the Wax: Carefully fill each jar to the top. Gently tap the sides to release any air bubbles.
Set & Smooth: Let candles cool and set completely at room temperature. If tops are uneven, smooth them using a heat gun or hairdryer. This can happen with natural waxes.
Trim the Wicks: Once fully set, trim wicks to 0.5 cm. A short wick gives a better, safer burn.
Cure the Candles: Allow the candles to cure for at least 5 days before burning. This helps improve scent throw and burn quality.
Burning Guidelines (First Burn). To ensure a full melt pool and avoid tunnelling:
