INGREDIENTS for 1kg melted wax. Adjust and scale as required.
Measure out the ingredients using a scale.
  • 1Kg CB ADVANCED WAX PELLETS
  • Fragrance oil at 6-9% maximum. Depending on the fragrance potency
  • Pre-selected applicable wick – consult the wick chart for soy wax safe wicks (STB RANGE).
  • Colour flakes or pellets (optional) – NOTE no colour can be used in massage candles.

EQUIPMENT
  • Bain Marie (double boiler)
  • Digital Scale.
  • Stirring popsicle sticks.
  • Wick placeholder.
  • Candle safe jar.
  • Digital Thermometer.
  • Cleaning cloths.

Preparation:
Ensure that you work on a safe surface, candle wicks are firmly in place, and that the max fill line have been market with a non-permanent marker to ensure that the jars are not over filled.
Lay down a few pieces of newspaper, as pouring candles can sometimes be messy.

  • Step 1 – Melting
Melt your wax over a low heat slowly to reach 70℃. The wax will BE CLEAR.
Take care not to heat over 75℃ as this can influence the setting and performance of the wax. Overheated wax is very opaque in colour and can result in injury. It can also cause discolouration in the final product.

  • Step 2 – Adding Colour and Fragrance
Add fragrance at 65-68℃ and stir gently for a minute.
If adding colour, we advise to add it before at a higher temperature of 75℃ then add the fragrance at 68℃ to ensure that the colour blends well with the wax.
Colouring is always at a higher temperature.

  • Step 3 – Pouring
Once your fragrance and colour has blended, and the wax has cooled down to approx. 58-60℃ it is ready to be poured. The wax will still have a clear appearance. If the wax is too cool, it will create cavities in the way when drying the first pour. This wax starts congealing at 54 degrees.

  • Step 4 – Curing & Topping Up.
Allow wax to cure for 12 hours.
Warm up the remainder of the wax using a small Bain Marie to 55℃
Top up the final layer of the candle at 53-55 degrees to the maximum fill line of your containers. Allow to set for another 12 hours.
For very tall container candles, a half/ half pour would be needed to prevent any sinkholes in the candle.

  • Special Note: Frosting
In the event of frosting, we suggest reheating the wax up to 78- 80℃ to refresh the crystal structure. This should remove the frosting for the re-pour. With this, please be cautious not to take the wax above this temperature, as holding the wax at this temperature for extended periods of time will discolour the wax.
